Moving to a New Site

Most of you might have noticed my lack of posts for a while now. I am moving to a new site. It’s at: http://imbacore.blogspot.com/.  Blogsome is a very good blog site provider but there really are some personal preferences that I need to be met in my site.

I Want Rakunks, Not Pigoons

"SnowPimps O SnowPimps", the children ask, their diminutive feet scattering the sun-scorched sand every which way as they nearly throttled him in their wide-eyed excitement, "what is this?" It is nearly midday but they have found something in the beach once again. They are holding up an object, a "thing", that is rotting, neither dead nor alive, knowing neither anger nor joy, but definitely moving. How it manages to do that is not normal. It is surreal watching it move. SnowPimps’ nose twitches. He knows what it is but he can’t remember its name; it was one of the experiments the genetic engineers failed in utterly. It is nauseating. He withdraws from the children, the sheets of quota reports making crinkling sounds as he gathers them around him like a protective cloak. He glares at them for bringing such a pitiful, detestable thing in his presence, disturbing his reverie of a blog transfer, digital art, and sandwiches made by his wife years ag—

What are sandwiches?

Apologies for the unexpected hiatus but it just hit me that I may be looking for a new site to transfer this blog to. Certainly blogsome offers good support — it’s free after all — but the time has come to search for broader horizons. I will still keep this blog, will still make articles for my friends but sometime in the near future I will have to make a Fragfests and Imbas V2.

And yes, I am currently hooked to Oryx and Crake; it’s one of those novels that suck you into its world, never mind the absence of frenetic gun fights or huge, asteroid-swallowing capital ships. Thanks to Martin and Lia for letting me borrow this book.

"It’s a strand of protein" SnowPimps replies disdainfully, vehemently waving the children away.

Alcohol and Tech Forums

"There’s a glitch in the Matrix."

Whoa! I got home last night filled to the brim with gin, applied in an invite-only forum (for privacy purposes, I won’t be saying which)  and when I woke up — NO HANGOVER!! — I got in! I was expecting maybe two weeks but it took only HOURS! I am in! And I wrote my application while drunk!

To the people of that forum THANK YOU.

Soren’s gretchin-ness, Martin’s Peter Parker Syndrome, Joseph’s homicidal tendencies,  and my Jiraiya Dance last night must have tugged at the very fabric of reality. (That was a good party last night guys!)

Gamespot - Crysis DirectX 9 and DirectX 10 Screenshots Comparison

Some years back I wondered what it would be like if computer graphics in shooter games would look like real movies. I banished the thought thinking it would be awful.

I was wrong.

See the article HERE. The images are nothing short of breathtaking and unbelievable.

All Your Base Are Belong to Us

According to the homepage of the freeware UFO: AI they will be releasing a new version of their game soon. Alien Arena has released v6.10 of their shooter!

Each belong to opposite sides of the gaming spectrum; Alien Arena features Quake-style gameplay (with Mars Attacks!-themed martians of all things lol!! emoticon) while UFO:AI is an adaptation of the popular turn-based classic X-com.

Quick Update

I just got married whooopeee!

Updates:

1. About 13 or so days ago, Ccleaner (formerly known as Crap Cleaner) released version 2 of their freeware. It had a bug; it no longer cleaned out temporary Internet files. They released a new version, v2.01.507, 2 days ago and this seems to have fixed the problem, basing on preliminary forum feedback (as of October 30, 3:44pm, GMT +08). For first time users of this excellent PC almost-all-in-one-wonder cleaner, get instructions on how to use it from the Tweakguides Tweaking Companion; they are on page 97 of the Windows XP version.

I still have not tried it though; busy. Tomorrow, mayhap.

2. Nvidia has just released a WHQL update. I still have not benchmarked the 163.67 XG Drivers. (See my article on this.)  Sorry for the delay but a series of (mostly) fortunate events took up my time. =)

I’ll write about the events the past few days when I get back. Good day all!
