Quick Update

I just got married whooopeee!

Updates:

1. About 13 or so days ago, Ccleaner (formerly known as Crap Cleaner) released version 2 of their freeware. It had a bug; it no longer cleaned out temporary Internet files. They released a new version, v2.01.507, 2 days ago and this seems to have fixed the problem, basing on preliminary forum feedback (as of October 30, 3:44pm, GMT +08). For first time users of this excellent PC almost-all-in-one-wonder cleaner, get instructions on how to use it from the Tweakguides Tweaking Companion; they are on page 97 of the Windows XP version.

I still have not tried it though; busy. Tomorrow, mayhap.

2. Nvidia has just released a WHQL update. I still have not benchmarked the 163.67 XG Drivers. (See my article on this.)  Sorry for the delay but a series of (mostly) fortunate events took up my time. =)

I’ll write about the events the past few days when I get back. Good day all!

Vinyl AC97 (Audio Codec) Driver

UPDATED; SEE BELOW.

ViaArena.com has released their 6.80c Vinyl AC97 driver. If you are using a motherboard with a VIA chipset and a VT8235 southbridge and are using Windows XP as your OS, you can get the driver here. I personally favor using Vinyl drivers as they produce sound that is more crisp than their Realtek AC97 counterparts. (There is also a "For use with the following Product/s" field there. You can check to see if your VIA southbridge is supported if it is not a VT8235)

For people who do not have a VT8235 southbridge (Ancient haha!) but have a VIA chipset of another kind, Windows XP as their OS, and an AC’97 integrated sound solution, go here and select the driver that is appropriate for your motherboard’s specifications.

The only axe I have been grinding against these drivers is that the ones prior to this version did not support 5.1 sound. I had to revert to using Realtek ones when I switched to surround sound. I’m hoping this 6.80c does not have that problem. I’m dying to test it (along with a whole slew of drivers I have downloaded —– including a new one for my 2000-dpi mouse! yummy.) but tomorrow’s a looooooooong day and I have to return to my house and check on my phylactery if it’s still there; that draco-lich I left on guard duty was suspiciously eyeing it greedily before I left…

Rest, I need rest. And a new body; this one can’t hold the eldritch energy that holds my life essence much longer. I can’t remember the last time I sucked a soul and stole its shell…

Hmmm, Soren? Martin? Johnnyl? Uhm, my boss? My gf? Can’t decide. Musssssst resssst…..

UPDATE 2: Version 7.00b is now available. I hope this large jump in version number implies a fix for the 5.1 VIA problem but I doubt it. Their forums are very disappointing: lots of people have the same problem as I do but we do not get any replies from the admins.

Gaming Keyboards

After I bought a 1750-peso gaming mouse (roughly $38.00) all my non-gaming friends who have straight priorities wanted to squeeze my neck. That was fun. La dee da.

I wonder what they’ll do if I bought one of these babies in this article from TwitchGuru.com:

Why Buy a Gaming Keyboard?

DavePitt the Dimpled One is a brown belt in Karate and Mart can just very well sit on me.

To say nothing of the new batch: Jun and his pecs that might as well be armor plating (muscular and sexy), July Riddick (one of the coolest gals ever!), and Soren with his Sawarabi no Mai.

/Me starts saving up but puts on weights like those of Rock Lee…
